It's been a strange, trying week for all of us I can imagine, and a visible shift in our daily routines! I wanted to touch on some advice I've learnt myself, having to work from home and from understanding the impact sitting alone at home has on my mental health.
Even on regular weekends when I didn't have much planned, it never gave me the mental stimulation or fulfilment I need to just 'laze around' the house. I'm not saying we need to be superwomen and multitask all day long, but having some key staples in our routines will definitely ease us into a productive and positive routine!
Staying Active
Home workouts don't have to be a chore. I've been following Alexis Ren's youtube tutorials on and off for some time now, and as she doesn't use equipment, it's very home-friendly! I would recommend a yoga mat, and then you're good to go. Of course, if you're lucky to have a park nearby like me, then jogs, walks and exercise in the park is a great idea.
I don't imagine the parks will be packed, especially on a weekday morning!
Easing Anxiety
This is a more personal choice, so continue with what you know works for you. I like to use a mix of sage smudging (have mentioned in previous posts or you can google for more in-depth info) and essential oils in my room to create a calmer ambience and soothe my body through scent. Lavender is great for calming you down and refreshing the senses!
Another point is to meditate, now is a great time to reflect in silence (or as quiet as we can find) and just breathe and focus on the present moment. There's no benefit to panicking or worrying, just focus on what you can do for yourself in this moment. To go along with this, I listen to 432hz relaxing music on Youtube and guided meditations.
Being productive
Write a to-do list or continue to get up early as if for work and get that cleaning/making calls/ cooking started early. We're lucky to live in a world and society where we can order anything to our home within 24 hours if we wanted to, or access any tv show or movie we want. There's no excuse now to not do that thing you've put off since 2019...yeah, I'm talking to myself here...
My focus will be more on exercise and working on my social content. I also love trying out new skincare, face masks and reading those books gathering dust on my shelves!
Let me know what you'll be doing during this quarantine!
