I'm definitely someone you could describe as a perfume junkie - the vintage cake tray currently housing my collection is overflowing. Frankly, I'm surprised the glass layers haven't shattered to pieces yet!
A piece I just *had to* add to my collection this year, was the YSL Mon Paris set. This was I'll admit, a spontaneous purchase, which was on offer in Boots. I paid £37 I believe, as opposed to the original £60. This is definitely a bargain if you ask me!
I also love collecting the boxes that come with perfumes, as they make beautiful storage boxes, or even coffee table decorations. One day I'd actually like to decorate my shelves with a few, or use them as shoes boxes...
Anyway, this set came with three items; the YSL Mon Paris eau de toilette, mascara and eyeliner. I'm not a huge fan of designer makeup, as it's usually the brand name that gives it that luxury image, rather than exceptional quality.
I did smell this in-store prior to buying, so at least I didn't go in totally blind! I think perfume is a very personal choice, and ironically, the most popular high end choices can still become a very sentimental piece. I like to wear specific scents on different occasions, and this one I save for days and evenings I need a pick me up and want to boost my confidence.
The Notes
I reckon most of us are terrible at picking up on notes, I usually say 'fruity' or 'woody' and that's the extent of my knowledge so here's the breakdown:pear, orchid, patchouli, white musk
The pear is very noticeable, as theres a sweetness to the perfume as soon as you spray it. Its not truly youthful though as that blends in with the muskier scents and more elegant florals.
The packaging was too beautiful not to photograph, and this makes the experience of buying a perfume so much more special to me. It may be a superficial viewpoint, but I know that when I really like a perfume, it will always compliment and finalise my outfit, later bringing back memories of when I wore it.
Have you tried this one?
xoxo
